These towels are very soft and I haven't had any problems with strings or loops that I have had to cut off. They will absorb quite a lot, but they are not as coarse as a cotton or cotton polyester blend towel, so drying yourself off is a little more like patting dry to soak up the water as opposed to rubbing water off in a sweeping motion if that makes sense.While these are expensive, in a small bathroom, the bamboo towels dry fast and do not get a mildew smell. This is what you are paying for. If you have a large bathroom with good air flow, I am not sure if the are with the cost. You can buy great cotton towel for 1/3 the price.My son loves these. They are very soft, and dry quickly. They are pretty thin, but that may be what helps them dry quickly.Love them !!!!!
